Dreets, Drieets and Direccte: what you need to know

Since April 1, 2021, the Drieets has replaced the Direccte. It is a directorate responsible for labor inspection services, business, competition and consumer affairs in the concerned region, as well as social cohesion, that is to say the protection of economic resources, etc…

Who replaces the Direccte?

The Direccte is the association of several services such as the DDTEFP, the DDI, the DRIRE, the DRCCRF, the DRT, the DRCA, the DRCE and the CRIE. These organizations form the current basic foundation of the DIRECCTE. In other words, this directorate is essential for the development of the economy and business in the Paris region.

This service was replaced by a new directorate on April 1st, 2021: the DRIEETS. As a result, all missions assigned to this service were transferred and integrated into the departmental directorate of the DRIEETS. Despite this change, the roles of the DRIEETS remain unchanged. Therefore, the DIRECCTE handles labor inspection, the laws governing it, departmental business and competition affairs, as well as everything related to social matters.

Why the Dreets, Drieets?

The DREETS, the DRIEETS are regional directorates dealing with data concerning labor inspection laws, as well as the public policies of a region. Moreover, it is an organization tasked with coordinating policies governing laws and decrees issued by the protection of the population (DDPP), employment, and social solidarity. These departments merge to form the DREETS.

The policy of the DRIEETS organization, on the other hand, is similar to that of the DREETS which groups policies for public protection, business development, approval and validation of files concerning labor inspection and other decrees.

The DRIETTS is an interdepartmental directorate present in Ile-de-France, which allows it to handle various fields of business, competition and consumer affairs of the population. It also concerns the territorial planning of the concerned region, notably the Ile-de-France region.

The DRIEETS replaces the DIRECCTE and is now the economic and social interlocutor dedicated to businesses, employees, job seekers, social and territorial partners, integration actors, and consumers.

One can say that it is a reorganization of the different government poles and services.

The establishment of the DREETS stems from decree 2020-1545 of December 9, 2020.

These organizations share similarities in the roles they occupy. However, there are some differences regarding the policies and services they handle. The regional agency DREETS is a directorate that governs city policy, public security, and everything related to the civil service (work, socio-economic aid, etc.).

The DRIEETS, on the other hand, is a departmental service concerning social, economic, and territorial affairs of a region. Compared to the DREETS, it is a regional directorate with interdepartmental characteristics, with decentralized services compared to departmental services. Moreover, this administrative directorate replaced the departmental services of the DIRECCTE after the new interministerial decree of April 1st.

It now governs policies of population protection (social cohesion), business and competition policies, as well as the field of work and employment (risk prevention, etc.). In other words, this new departmental unit is the result of the merger of several departmental services.
